| b Shiraz, Persia Susanna wanted to be a doctor from the age of 4. She read Physiology and Psychology at Somerville College, Oxford, did her clinical training at St. Mary's Hospital, Paddington in 1972-75, joined Women in Medicine, and returned to Oxford to do her house jobs. She then trained in Psychiatry and completed a Neuroscience research degree. In 1981-82 she enjoyed a year as a GP trainee in Wantage, Oxon. She ran a Mother and Child Health project in Nepal with Save The Children Fund for the next 3 years, and arrived in Liverpool in 1985 with her partner and a one-year-old son. She worked at Liverpool University Medical School and Princes Park Health Centre for 8 years, then returned to Oxford in 1993 as a University Lecturer in General Practice. She became a partner at the Nuffield Health Centre in Witney, West Oxfordshire, retiring in 2015.
