Rebecca was an exceptionally devoted Roman Catholic. She and her husband Adolphe spent their time during the period 1870 until 1915 alternating between the two properties they owned, the one being Chateau Boursot in Calais and the other being 12 Vicarage gate in Kensington. Rebecca's mother Martha moved into 12 Vicarage Gate in 1877 and took over as resident manager / housekeeper to keep things in order in London while Martha and Adolphe were in Calais. The following year Rebecca's eldest daughter Helen took over the same role at Chateau Boursot. Helen remained the resident mistress there until she turned 46.
