b d London Francis Savile Crossley was educated at Eton and Balliol College, Oxford. In WWI, he was wounded in the leg in France and taken prisoner. He unsuccessfully contested Halifax as a Unionist in 1928 (on the retirement of the Speaker of J H Whitley). On his marriage, he lived at Caistor in Norfolk and from about 1929 at Somerleyton Hall, Lowestoft in Suffolk. He died on 15th July 1959 on a visit to London, outside the Bank of England. His ashes are buried at Somerleyton and there is a memorial tablet and window in Somerleyton Church.
