Third daughter of William Douro Hoare, CBE, JP, of Guessens, Welwyn, Hertfordshire.

Bridget was actively involved with work for the WRVS and Red Cross; in the 1939-45 War, Somerleyton Hall was for a few months used as a sailors' convalescent home and then occupied by the RAMC and used as an advanced dressing station.

Bridget Hoare died in hospital and her ashes are buried at Somerleyton. There is a memorial tablet and window in her memory in Somerleyton Church.
