b Stamford, Lincolnshire

d Dewsbury, Yorkshire

Mr Lowe was his father's 4th son, being schooled at Stamford School and Haileybury. After graduating from Jesus College, Cambridge in 1888, Mr Lowe became an assistant master at Douglas Grammar School in the Isle of Man. He was ordained in 1890 and took up the curacy of St. George's, Barrow in Furness, which he held for two years. On leaving there he became acting chaplain to His Majesty's forces in Malta but a few months later he was invalided home. After being a short time locum temens at Little Bytham, he accepted the curacy of Ketton, which he held for three years, and in 1896 he accepted from Mr. Todd-Newcombe the living of St. John's, on the death of the Rev. Walter Hiley. Proof of the appreciation in which his labours have been held is to be found in the large congregation he has been successful in holding together during the time he has been Rector of St. John's. Some time ago he was instrumental in getting the church restored at a cost of nearly £700, but it will be in connection with the Church Lads' Brigade that Mr Lowe will be missed as much as anything else. What he has done for the lads who have passed through the ranks no one can tell. He started the movement in Stamford in conjunction with Dr. Farrar, and on the latter leaving town he became its captain, bringing the company to a high level. We congratulate Mr. Lowe on his appointment to Stand, near Manchester which parish contains a population of over 6,000 but has only one church, a very fine structure holding 2,000 persons. The gift of St. John's living is jointly held by the Marquis of Exeter and the Todd-Newcombe family, and the present appointment lies with his lordship.

The Stamford Post, Friday May 22nd 1903

In 1911, he lived at the Vicarage, Batley, Yorkshire. Died Unmarried.
