Clement Benjamin inherited Aspall in 1722 from Temple Chevalier (1674-1722) #11811 who bought it from the Brooke family in 1702. He imported a Normandy cyder press in 1727 and the flourishing, organic, high-quality present-day business was founded in 1728.

He also reared deer and hares for the London market.
