| Born and Died in St Helier, Jersey Born and Died before above dates Notes: Special Note 6 of the circa 1950 family tree has the following notes: The officer of Constable corresponds to that of 'major' in England and is particularly important in the parish of St Helier where the Constable holds a miniature Court daily for adjudicating on minor offences. During four centuries (16th, 17th, 18th & 19th) the 'Chevalier' family was established in the District of Montau Pretre (Valkley des Vaises Grande Vause) and Trinity. This district consisted of land, meadows and woodlands which have now been partly built upon and form part of St Helier and probably extended as far as what is now 'Chevalier Road' probably constructed when Clement Chevalier was Constable of St Helier in 1717-1719.
