b 47 Russell Square, London d Burton Pynsent House, Curry Rivel, Taunton, Somerset Maude was the eldest daughter of Sir Samuel Morton Peto, 1st Bart., MP, DL, JP, fornerly of Somerleyton Hall, Suffolk (sold 1861), but later of 9 Great George Street, London; as a widow, Maude rented Smedmore, South Dorset; then West Woodhay House, near Newbury; then Landford House, Salisbury. In 1905, she bought Burton Pynsent House, Curry Rivel, Taunton, Somerset. With advice from Harold Peto, Maude made some improvements to the garden and drive; she and her husband were both skilled water-colour artists. She is buried at Landford in Wiltshire.
