| Educated at Eton he gained the military rank of Captain in 1970 and Major in 1973. He succeeded to the titles of 4th Baronet Arthur and 4th Baron Glenarthur, both of Carlung, co. Ayr in 1976. He was a Captain with BA Helicopters from 1976 to 1982. He was Lord in Waiting in 1982 and 1983. He became an elected member of the House of Lords in 1999. Simon and Susan have 2 children. |
