d At his residence in Cambridge

Robert Roe traded in Cambridge for more than 60 years as an engraver, printseller, picture dealer and picture restorer. He was an eldest son and is said to have studied miniature painting and even to have taught miniature painting at a guinea a lesson. He moved to Cambridge in about 1818 and later became acquainted with Edward Fitzgerald and W M Thackeray.

He was a founder member of the Printsellers' Association, attending the inaugural meeting in London in 1847.

Roe moved to 14 King's Parade in October 1842 and census returns show that the business flourished, employing 2 men and a boy by 1861. When he died however in July 1880 his estate was valued at under £1000.
