| of Rattlesden, Suffolk (b/d) Died aged 102 of Rattlesden, Suffolk,Yeoman. Will dated 21 7 1665, proved 17 10 1666. In his will he left all his lands in the 'Manor of Rattlesden',wherein I now dwell known by the name 'Hister' to his grandson Reynold (son of his deceased son Thomas). To his daughter Sarah Nunn (by then a widow) he left land which he had recently purchased from John Day and Alice his wife and of Mary Cocke in Rattlesden amounting to about 2 acres, for her lifetime but thereafter to his grandson John (another son of deceased Thomas). Also to said John land known as Fish-croft in Rattlesden opposite my dwelling house on the Greene (about 11 acres). Also he left to his grandson John Cobbold land in Rattlesden which I lately purchased for or from (?) Edmond Page, Richard Craske and Robert Parke. It seems that these gifts of land carried with them responsibility for paying 20 shillings each to the six daughters of his deceased son Francis. These are quoted as Anne,Elizabeth, Sarah, Alice, Suzan and Mary. One son, Robert is mentioned. There is also a requirement to pay 20 shillings to Thomas Blomfield of Buxhall for 'sorting out his lands to his grandchildren'! He also disposes of land in Rattlesden (to whom?) which he purchased from John Jannings - about 4 acres and another 1 acre purchased from John Kurton. He also leaves to grandson Thomas land purchased from John Runcton, about 2 acres. Also unto Robert Cobbold, grandchild, son of Francis Cobbold that land purchased from Samuel Wright. Also to Rachell Cobbold my grandchild Cockerells croft about 3 acres. My personal estate (ie not land) to Sarah Nunne my daughter. Residue to my loving friend John Gaymer of Rougham who with Thomas Cobbold is to be executor of this my will. |
