| Major Michael fought in the 2nd World War gaining the rank of Major in the Lovat Scouts. He was awarded the Territorial Decoration. He took his BA in 1946 and his MA in 1949. He was admitted to the Royal Company of Archers and became a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant of Selkirkshire in 1947 |
