| Normally known as Elizabeth she became the Duchess of Roxburghe on her marriage (her 2nd of 3) to the Duke of Roxburghe in 1954. Margaret served as chairman of the National Society for Cancer Relief from 1964 until her death. She was credited with furthering the level of care in the United Kingdom for people with cancer through her activities and fundraising, including the construction of twelve continuing care homes, and introducing home care nursing services to allow people to receive treatment at home. |
