John was the son of Matthew Pennefather Evans born 1834 Cork, Ireland and died 12 1902 London and Jane Constance Alice Miller born 1847 London and died (after 1911 Census). They married 17 12 1864 London and had five children, two being born in Hong Kong, China. J P Evans was in Ceylon 1889 to 1891 when he went to China to study the China Tea Trade, returning to Ceylon in 1894 and retiring in 1907. |
