| d Somerleyton Hall, near Lowestoft, Suffolk John de Bathe Crossley was educated at Eton; Balliol College, Oxford. He was an Oxford, Athletics Blue, high jump, 1913. 1914, joined Suffolk Yeomanry and served in Salonika, Gallipoli, Egypt and Palestine. Capt., 108th Suffolk and Norfolk Brigade,(Territorial Army Reserve). 1919, farmed for a time as a tenant at Caldecott Hall on the Somerleyton estate. 1922-26, lived at Lake Cottage on the estate. Later of Fawley, Hampshire where he farmed. He died at Somerleyton Hall of tuberculosis after a long illness. Taken from the family records of Robert (Robin) Morley Fletcher (1935-2015).
