from the Book Extract:

...First trained in medicine, was subsequently ordained, and after his father's death in 1804 came, under family arrangement, into the possession of the Aspall Hall Estate and incumbency. The memorial reads: "The Rev John Chevallier MD, born in 1774, succeeded his father at Aspall. He was thrice married. He died in 1846 regretted and beloved by all who had known him, his sweet temper and amiable disposition having endeared him to all."

The Fiske family papers indicate he had children by all three wives. The family tree of c.1950 indicates the order as Hepburn , Syer , Cole

Chevallier, John, M.D. (d.1846), physician and agriculturist, was youngest brother of the Rev. Temple Fiske Chevallier of Aspall Hall, rector of Badingham, Suffolk, who died 24 Oct. 1816 (Gent. Mag. 1816, ii. 470). After qualifying as physician, he took orders and presented himself to the living of Aspall, which was in his own gift, in 1817. For many years he received deranged patients into the hall. He was much interested also in agriculture, and has the credit of having first cultivated and introduced to practical agriculture the celebrated Chevallier barley. He died on 14 Aug. 1846.
