| b Weymouth, Dorset d Basingstoke, Hampshire Joy was the eldest daughter of John Hounsell of Stillman Valley, Ogle County, Illinois, USA. Her first marriage was to a South African Doctor, Reginald Nitch Smith. Her second marriage was to Sir James Heath which was annulled after only 3 years. Thirdly she married H A Andreae (died about 1966) who was at one time chairman of Kleinwort Benson. Her granddaughter observes that this series of alliances makes her seem like a bit of a gold digger, but if she was (which she thinks is most unlikely) it didn't make her particularly happy. Joy was a noted beauty- still lovely to the day she died. |
