| b Gateshead, Co. Durham d Northamptonshire The 1911 Census shows Hilda as a teacher at Arnewood Girls School in Hampshire. It is thought this was a private school of which her mother was Head. Hilda's parents were Thomas Edward O'Donoghue Manson born 2nd December 1847 in Finchley who died in london in 1888 and Mary Spencer born 1855 who died in Berkshire in 1936. They had married in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1879 and had 2 other daughters who were both Teachers too. Hilda and Charles had 2 children, Katherine P A Hammond born 4th February 1916 and Lempriere C W Hammond born 30th September 1918, both in Gateshead. In the 1939 Register both are students at Reading University. |
