| Harriet was the daughter (6th child) of Sir Robert Peel, 1st Baronet (25/4/1750 - 3/5/1830) and Ellen Yates, daughter of his business partner who he married on 8th July 1783. Sir Robert was an MP and an industrialist in the business of textile manufacture who raised money for, amongst others, Richard Arkwright #14476. Sir Robert was one of the first 10 known millionaires in 1799. Sir Robert and Ellen had 11 children of whom the first was Sir Robert Peel 2nd Bt. (1788-1850) and the 6th Harriet. Hence Harriet was a sister of the Prime Minister who held that office twice from 1834 to 1835 and 1841 to 1846. |
