| b Mells, Somerset d Killed in Action at Cambrai Our picture shows the fine memorial to Lt. Edward William Horner in the Horner Chapel at St. Andrew's Church, Mells, Somerset. The base was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens at the request of Lady Horner. The equestrian statue is by Sir Alfred Munnings and is modelled on 'Patrick' whose portrait hangs in Castle House, Dedham, Essex. Its fine quality led to Munnings being commissioned by the Jockey Club to create a bronze of racehorse 'Brown Jack' at Ascot. The plaque was designed by Eric Gill. |
