| b London d Knebworth, Hitchin, Hertfordshire Edith Villiers, by then Lady Lytton, was the author of Lady Lytton's Court Diary, 1895-1899, edited by her granddaughter, Mary Lutyens and published by Rupert Hart-Davis in 1961. She was already a widow when she received Queen Victoria's invitation to serve her in June 1895. She kept her diary up till 1899 and stayed with The Queen, being at her bedside when she died. |
