b England or Bengal d Worthing, Sussex (Buried in Worthing, Sussex) One source says he was born in Bengal on 15.7.1865. He arrived in India in 1887 and was posted to Secunderabad Military District; was posted to Burma in 1891 and in 1896 he was appointed Under Secretary (Works) Government of Burma. This was followed by becoming Under Secretary (Civil Works) Government of India at Simla under Lord Curzon in 1903, and Chief Engineer and Secretary to the Government of Bihar and Orissa in charge of building Patna new city in 1918. He retired to Sussex in 1920. |
