| Sir Edward bates, the 2nd Baronet, of the Bates shipping family, and his wife Constance Elizabeth Graves Cecil had two brothers with distinguished war records. Frederick flew with the RFC/RAF and earned an AFC and received four Mentions in Despatches in Syria and Palesine. Denis in the Army was also assigned to Syria and Palestine and won an MC and was also Mentioned in Despatches. |
