| Dick Cosens was the only son of Charles Henry Cosens, MRCS, LRCP of Oxford Terrace, London. He was educated at Winchester, Kings College, Cambridge (Scholar 1920; BA 1921; MA 1925); with Messrs Verity, Engineers in Birmingham, 1911-14, Second Lieutenant Royal Engineers, 1914; Captain, 1917; Department of Engineering, Cambridge University; Demonstrator, 1937; Lecturer, 1943; of Trumpington Street and later of Millington Road, Cambridge.
