Christine E Hiskey, nee Cobbold, was assistant archivist in the Durham County Record Office, educated at Chelmsford High School, where her interest in local history and archives began with regular use of the Essex Record Office, she later graduated from Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, and gained a diploma in archives and records administration at Liverpool University. Current interests include more county historians, a pioneer colliery engineer and legal history. NOTE: the above is taken from Essex Journal, spring 1973 so is now (2021) well out of date! It appeared at the end of her article 'The Writing of Essex County History, c 1600-1768' under her maiden name.

The Trust also knows that she published, also under her maiden name, 'Bicentenary of a colliery engineer (John Buddle)' in Colliery Guardian, vol 222 no.2, Feb. 1974.

and

'John Buddle (1773-1843) Agent & Entrepreneur in the NE coal trade' which was her thesis for the M. Litt Degree at Durham University, Dept. of History in 1978 under her married name. It seems fair to deduce that she married between 1974 and 1978.

Further research has revealed that (unless I am much mistaken) she is now the archivist at Holkham Hall and the author of at least two more books 'Holkham, the social, architectural and landscape history of a great English country house' and 'Palladium & Practical: Country House Technology at Holkham Hall'.
