Catherine was Richard's second wife and gave him 6 boys and 3 girls in addition to Charles Richard shown here. Catherine Coffin was only sixteen when she married Richard Barwell and he had a mistress at the time - a Mrs Seaforth, an assumed name for Rebecca Lyne born 14 09 1764 Ringwood, Hampshire and died 1851. She was buried on 11 09 1851 in Kensington, London. She had a son and three daughters by Richard. Catherine Coffin was the daughter of Nathaniel Coffin born 24 07 1725 Boston, USA and died 20 03 1780 aboard his son's ship the Royal Oak in New York, USA. Her mother was Elizabeth Barnet born 1729 USA and died 12 02 1784 USA. They married 1748 in Boston, USA and had the one daughter. Nathaniel Coffin was a Customs Official in Boston. |
