| b London d Camberwell, Surrey Benjamin is understood to have been a Wine Merchant in Chancery Lane, who was given the Freedom of the City of London on 29th April 1841. In September 1845, R J Nevill leased 5 acres of land to Thomas and James Motley of Leeds to build a Tin Works. After two years of poor trading, they sold it out to brothers-in-law - Sydney James Phillips and Benjamin Phileas Nunes, metal merchants and selling agents of London. This was brought into production in 1848 and closed in 1958. In the London Gazette of September 1857:- He was in partnership with James Sydney Phillips and William Standing trading as Standing, Phillips and Co. of Brunton Wharf, Middlesex as Potters. In the 1851 and 1861 Census, it shows he was an Iron and Steel Manufacturer. His father was Benjamin Inael Nunes and his mother's name was Judith. |
