Betty was so upset by her father's desertion when she was still very young that she changed her name by deed poll to Gordon-Creed on 21st day of October 1941 as did her brother. Her Deed Poll notice gives her former name as Eckstein so presumably she used her step mother's name for a while prior to 21/10/1941. The notice describes her as a spinster of Solai in the Colony and Protectorate of Kenya. Betty was a coffee planter in Kenya before Maumau. |
