Borlase Hill Adams was the second son of the late William Adams Esq. LLD of Thorpe, Surrey, Advocate of Doctors' Commons - by the Hon. Mary Anne, daughter of the Hon. William Cockayne, of Rushton Hall, co. Northampton, niece and co-heiress of Borlase, 6th and last Viscount Cullen; born 1817, married 1855, Harriet Anne, relict of Thomas Rose Esq. and daughter of John Cobbold Esq. of Ipswich; educated at Winchester and Exeter College, Oxford (BA 1839, MA 1842), called to the Bar at Lincoln's Inn, 1843, is a Magistrate for Middlesex and Westminster. This family was formerly of Loveston and Paterchurch, co Rombroke.
