d Cyprus Angus was Lillian's 3rd husband (1907-1949). At the time of his marriage Angus was Adjutant of the Mounted Infantry School at Longmore in Hampshire. He retired from the army in 1910 but was recalled on the outbreak of war in 1914 and served until 1918 with the Lovat Scouts Yeomanry. He commanded his regiment at Gallipoli and afterwards led a brigade in General Allenby's campaign in Palestine. Lillian lived in London during the war but went out to Palestine with her husband in 1922. The Brigadier saw service in Palestine as Commandant of the British Gendarmerie, 1922-1926; as manager of the Government Stud Farm, Acre, and Stock Breeding Officer for Palestine, 1927-1931; as a resident in an Arab village north of Acre, 1932-1949. |
